"Goodbye Lenin"

----
Goodbye Lenin

I stood
I moved
I watched
I stood
I watched

Wind in my collar brought from Siberia
A thousand cold breaths of the forever gone

I stood
I watched
I moved
I stood

Rosy red faces on jackboot reflections
Up and down the bitter cobblestone and brick

I stood
I watched
I stood
I moved

The young, the old, the lost, the believers
Together we made the pilgrimage

I watched
I moved
I stood

There on the threshold, a hush in the crowd
The tomb with its rules still deafening

I watched
I watched
I moved

The body of the communist lord preserved
Missing parts all the more disturbing

I watched
I moved
I stood

A nervous laugh quelled, worship still welcome
Pay your respects even as he and all crumble

I moved
I stood
I watched

Scarves bobbing and sobbing, tears still offered
A step forward and still stepping back

I stood
I watched
I moved

Skin creeping with the unknown, grateful for company
Are they still watching, is it so foreboding?
Run, run, run
I want to run
Run from the pressure and the silence

Outside again I breathe the northern memories
I watch and I watch and I watch

"1890"

----
1890

Tumble the regime
Tumble the kingdom
Tumble the rule
Follow none

A king, a queen, a chief, all rulers no more
It was your manifest war
Take them down, take the crown -
Of gold, of sage, of righteousness you made

Not everyone has complied
Not everyone has forgotten
There will always be reminders
Never deeply hidden

Colonize, brutalize, magnify the charter
You may still believe your lies
1890 never dies

"Murder of Crows"

----
Murder of Crows

Murderous murder of crows
Corbies calling for the dead
Carrion scavenger of old
Filling passers by with dread
The shiny blue black feathers
They give to us unwillingly
